According to a company news release, it’s the world’s first installation of the Nozomi 14000 QA printer.
“At DS Smith, we are driving greater sustainability and efficiency in packaging by implementing the most advanced high-speed digital printing technologies in our plants,” said Albert Forcadell, DS Smith packaging operations director, South Europe. “This new technology not only ensures low energy consumption and maximum production efficiency, but also allows us to offer high print quality with state-of-the-art printheads that guarantee maximum precision.”
In other DS Smith news, the company is partnering with beverage company Carlsberg Poland, providing new packaging for select product lines that will help Carlsberg cut carbon dioxide emissions, according to a DS Smith news release.
Carlsberg Poland will introduce DS Smith’s Round Wrap, recyclable multipack packaging with rounded corners, which is “anticipated to save up to 224 tons of carbon dioxide annually for Carlsberg in Poland.” The packaging will be placed on a few Carlsberg brands.
“We are proud to partner with Carlsberg Poland for a trial launch of the DS Smith Round Wrap,” said Reinier Schlatmann, regional managing director, packaging division, East Europe, at DS Smith. “This is aligned with our companywide commitment to ‘Redefining Packaging for a Changing World’ and our ‘Now & Next Sustainability’ strategy and mission as we help our customers to design out waste and move toward a circular economy.”
