Friese Corrugating Rolls: Engineered for Performance

For over 30 years, Friese has specialized in manufacturing precision corrugating rolls in Germany. Flute geometry, heat control, and wear resistance directly impact quality, efficiency, and consistency and they drive every roll we build.

Precision Flute Grinding

Every flute is ground individually, allowing precise control of flute height, tip radius, and pitch to match specific production goals and board performance requirements. Through our PACE Program (Profile Analysis & Comparison Estimate), we compare existing flute profiles against optimized options to highlight medium saving opportunities without sacrificing ECT or mechanical strength. Tailored profiles help maximize performance gains.

Rockwelle Tungsten Carbide Durability

Our triple polished Rockwelle coating has been a trusted industry solution for years. It maintains stable flute geometry, reduces friction, and preserves paper strength. Rockwelle coated rolls typically last twice as long and are twice as wear resistant as chrome.

Rockwelle 4.0 For Microflutes

Rockwelle 4.0 is a next generation tungsten based coating designed to meet modern processing demands. It extends coating durability to E, F, G/N, and other microflute profiles that traditionally remained uncoated or relied on chrome coating. A refined application process delivers approximately 10% higher material hardness than previous tungsten based coatings, providing a significant life extension on fine flutes.

Thermogrooves and CCS Siphon

Proper heat transfer is essential to flute formation. Conventional corrugating rolls build up a condensate barrier inside the roll, which restricts heat transfer and creates cold spots on the surface. Thermogrooves (on new rolls) and our CCS Siphon (Controlled Condensate System) continuously remove condensate, ensuring proper heat transfer across the entire roll. Advantages include:
    • Eliminates banana effect after shutdowns
    • Even heat transfer across the roll face
    • No running in period after flute changes
    • Zero maintenance over the roll life
    • No modification to existing steam systems
When profiles, temperature, and wear are controlled, board quality is controlled. That is the Friese advantage. Christian Rodriguez Sales crodriguez@friese-NA.com 757-752-4909 www.Friese-NA.com
