Jamie Smith

Jamie Smith has joined Dicar as southwest region technical sales and service representative. Smith, who comes to Dicar with nearly three decades of plant management experience in corrugated converting, will provide sales and technical support for Dicar customers in Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas.

“We are very pleased to have Jamie as part of our technical sales and service team,” says Shawn Spencer, Dicar’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Having experience in all areas of plant operation, Jamie brings a level of experience and knowledge to our organization that can be leveraged by our customers to maximize their efficiency, productivity, and quality.”

MacDermid Graphics Solutions announced the sponsorship of a graphic communications (GC) scholarship at Clemson University, a globally top-ranked graphics program that has grown to gain substantial support from the boxmaking industry.

“MacDermid has been a long-standing partner with Clemson, and we are proud to be a sponsor of their GC scholars program,” says Melanie Galloway, senior vice president of MacDermid. “Our sponsorship honors our commitment to the next generation of GC talent.”

Scott Spagnolli

Scott Spagnolli has been appointed as North American sales and channel manager at Zünd America and will be based in Dallas. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the printing and graphics industry.

Spagnolli will be responsible for managing the sales team and distribution channels in Canada and the United States, and his key focus will be driving direct and channel sales for Zünd America’s graphics and packaging segments. He will also look to exploit new opportunities in non-graphics segments, such as leather, gasket, and composites.

Spanish packaging company Grupo La Plana purchased an EFI Nozomi C18000 press at its plant in Castellón, located in Eastern Spain. The EFI Nozomi C18000 is a single-pass, ultra-high-speed LED inkjet corrugated packaging press, which will allow Grupo La Plana’s designers to explore more innovative creative power.

Another Spanish boxmaker, Valencia-based Hinojosa, has confirmed the purchase of its second and third EFI Nozomi C18000 presses, which are being respectively installed at two of the company’s plants.


SUN Automation Group’s new EZ-Cover replaceable feed roll cover.

SUN Automation Group introduced its EZ-Covers replaceable feed roll covers to the European market at CCE International 2019 in Munich, Germany. These new patent-pending feed roll covers are replaceable in sections without having to remove the roll from the machine. EZ-Covers minimize costs associated with reduced labor, downtime, crating, transporting, inventory, and handling because spare feed rolls are now not needed, and replacement time is cut from 4 hours to 30 minutes.
