AICC’s biennial report shows compensation growth for member employees
AICC is pleased to announce that its 2024 Salary, Hourly Wage & Benefits Report is now available. This report provides the most thorough analysis of employee salaries, wages, and benefits offered in independent corrugator and sheet plants within the United States. Employers can leverage this valuable tool to benchmark their compensation and benefits offerings against industry averages and make informed decisions about employee compensation.
The survey, conducted in the first half of 2024, collected data from 28 independent corrugator/sheet feeder plants and 60 sheet plants across the U.S., representing a workforce of 8,443. In all, 29 management positions and 86 nonmanagement positions were surveyed. The finished report segments data by plant type (corrugator/sheet feeder plant versus sheet plant) and organizational role (management versus nonmanagement). From there, a detailed salary and wage data breakdown for each job position is provided, along with additional insight into position tenure, plant employment size, and AICC region.
The 2024 report shows that among all participating companies, the average management employee has been in their role for 11.0 years and has seen an average increase in pay of 5.1% between January 1, 2023, and January 1, 2024. We can also see that the average nonmanagement employee has been in their position for 7.3 years and has seen an average pay increase of 4.3% during that same period. By comparison, AICC’s 2022 report found increases of 7.1% and 7.0% between January 1, 2021, and January 1, 2022, for the average management and nonmanagement employees, respectively.
Interestingly, further examination shows that in 2024, company size and years of experience did not always correlate with higher average salaries for management positions at responding corrugator plants. However, this was not the case for responding sheet plants, where the number of employees significantly impacted management salaries. This holds true for nonmanagement positions at corrugator and sheet plants, where higher average salaries were reported at larger responding companies.
As a reminder, all individual data from participating companies have been kept strictly confidential, and no AICC member or staff member has had access to any of the individual data. All responses to this survey were collected and compiled by Association Research Inc., which was acquired by Industry Insights Inc. in September. Following the acquisition, Industry Insights, an independent research and consulting firm, handled the tabulation and analysis of the survey.
