Domtar officially entered the packaging business in Q4 2022 with the conversion of the uncoated freesheet paper machine at our Kingsport, Tennessee, facility.
The Kingsport Mill is now home to a state-of-the-art containerboard machine, capable of producing 600,000 tons of high-quality recycled Performance Linerboard and Corrugated Medium annually. Our core competency as a fiber innovator allows us to offer our customers a full range of performance recycled products with exceptional strength characteristics promoting superior runability and convertibility on the corrugator. Kingsport’s central location makes it geographically positioned to be the go-to supplier to independent boxmakers across the country.
Producing containerboard products directly aligns with Domtar’s expertise and 175-year legacy of turning fiber into useful products. We are leveraging our experience as global leaders in pulp and paper to serve the packaging industry by focusing on customers’ success and consistently delivering the highest quality products.
We are approaching the market differently. We aren’t interested in being just another containerboard supplier. We want to become North America’s premium producer with deep and lasting partnerships with independent corrugators. We don’t have our own box plants. We are the independent’s paper mill, offering unique right-weighting and light-weighting solutions.
