PPC Technologies & Solutions has installed and commissioned the first of three Megafold 1650 Corrugated Specialty Folder Gluers at a U.S.-based customer. It is to be used for converting offset printed and laminated E, F, B, and C flutes corrugated cartons.

In addition, the company has also installed the first Smartfold 1100SL ULTRA Folder Gluer for folding carton and light corrugated in the U.S. Installed at Superior Graphic Packaging, this includes an inline IMPACK ERGOSA/PERPACK Packing system.


Welch Packaging hopes adding a new corrugator to its Elkhart, Ind., location will create more than 100 jobs in the midwestern town. An estimated 115 new employees are expected to be trained by individuals from Fosber. The new positions will most likely not be filled until 2018.


Electronics For Imaging, Inc. announced that its EFI™ Fiery® digital front ends (DFEs) and software workflows perfectly processed a critical test factor for determining quality printing of PDF documents. All 48 test patches in the new Ghent Workgroup PDF Output Suite version 5.0 were successful. This implementation—the new de facto standard—should help a large portion of the print industry reach higher levels of production.

The company also reported a record for revenue in the fourth quarter of 2016, in which they made $266.7 million. This is a 4 percent increase, compared to the $256.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2015.


Brett Forehand

Pamarco has announced the appointment of Brett Forehand as its new technical sales engineer for the southern region of the U.S., which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Brett brings with him 12 years of experience in flexographic printing.

In other news, the company will be exhibiting at the Graphics of the Americas show in at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Florida from February 16–18. They will be displaying their Diamond rubber rollers and their Syn-Tac brand, an industry-leading Sentinel Ink Management System.

On top of that, they will be in Las Vegas from March 29–31 for the Print UV Conference. The annual meeting gives attendees an opportunity to engage with printers and leading suppliers, and dive into core UV processes and hear about successful UV print initiatives around the world.


HarperLove has announced the promotion of Tyler Haggard and Don Wolfe to region manager positions. Haggard, who has been with the company since 2009, will be leading technical service teams in the northeast and north central U.S. Wolfe, who joined HarperLove in 2001, will serve the same role in northwest and north central regions.


Over the past ten months, ICPF has worked in a joint effort with FBA and AICC in identifying and working with SkillsUSA chapters and corrugated packaging firms to develop customized educational programs at select Illinois high schools. Four ICPF Corporate Partners, that include KapStone, StandFast Packaging, WestRock, and PCA have also committed the next two years to dedicate key personnel to provide plant tours, create curricula, mentor faculty and students, make class room presentations, create internships, and take additional steps to establish an educational platform to serve corrugated packaging firms in the Chicago area.


James Beneroff

Advantzware adds James Beneroff as its new director of their corrugated division. Beneroff has nearly 40 years of experience in the corrugated industry and was the owner and operator of a sheet plant for 15 years.
