Thomas Rybicki, sales representative at American Containers, earned his Certificate of Packaging Science through AICC and The Packaging School.
The certificate requires the completion of 12 online courses that teach participants how to speak the language of packaging and utilize it as a key differentiator for their company.
The Certificate of Packaging Science program is an excellent training tool for those individuals new to the field, Rybicki says. Additionally, people who already have some packaging experience will find an excellent resource dealing with all facets of packaging.
Encouraging others, Rybicki continues: The coursework provided will enhance people’s basic understanding of packaging that they’ve experienced with their own companies and may provide industry knowledge that will allow their businesses to grow in areas not yet tested.
All courses required for the certificate, plus more than 30 others, are available to all employees at AICC member companies for free. Learn more about AICC’s online education at www.aiccbox.org/packagingschool.

Admiral Packaging Inc. has invested in a Sitexco™ anilox roll-cleaning system from Eaglewood Technologies. Eaglewood’s Sitexco SL 127 system is a more environmentally friendly solution that will replace Admiral’s liquid cleaning operation, as part of the company’s sustainability initiative. The Sitexco system received the FTA Technical Innovation Award and has been nominated for the Label Industry Global Award for Innovation.
Admiral Packaging has been focused on continuous improvement for many years, and we continue to look for cutting-edge technology that will allow our operators to do what they do best, and that’s run equipment, says Robert Hummell, plant manager at Admiral. There were features about the cleaner that ultimately made our decision to purchase the Sitexco a no-brainer.
MacDermid Graphic Solutions appointed David Carroll, Ken Dvorak, and Scott Ill as North American account managers in mid-June.
Carroll joins MacDermid with 30 years’ experience in the industry. He will be based in Pittsburgh and will be responsible for cultivating relationships with current customers in the West and North Midwest regions.
Out of Dvorak’s 28 years of experience in the industry, 18 of them have been spent primarily on the sales of graphic supplies, building a strong reputation for developing long-term customer relationships. He will be based in Richmond, Va., and provide solutions for customers in the Northeast region.
Ill comes to MacDermid with 18 years of experience in the printing and packaging industries. With his history of establishing new territories and growing businesses, he will be responsible for continuing to expand business relationships in the Central Midwest region. He will be based in Cincinnati.
In other news, MacDermid instituted a price increase on its photopolymer products that went into effect July 9. The increase will be from 2–5 percent. This is due to raw material, energy, and transportation costs rising dramatically over the last two years. MacDermid sales representatives have been or will be in contact with customers to discuss details of the increase.

Pamarco will also be featuring its newest product, the anilox cleaning plate.
CCE will be a great opportunity to meet our global clients, to share information on our latest developments and understand how we can continue to meet their needs and add value to their process, says Pamarco Europe General Manager Nick Walker.
