Delta WT 250

Rhotex 325

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) chose two Durst large-format digital printers as “2018 Product of the Year.” The Durst Rhotex 325 was chosen in the Roll-to-Roll (RTR) Direct Disperse Ink on Textile category, and the company’s Delta WT 250 won in the RTR/Hybrid/Flatbed New Technology or Inkset category.

“On behalf of the entire company, we are proud to receive this validation from industry professionals who know best how to benchmark quality and performance,” said Durst CEO and Managing Director Tim Saur. “We take great pride in being selected as a winner in this prestigious competition.” SGIA received more than 255 entries in 74 categories from more than 100 companies. The Product of the Year competition highlights the best digital imaging technologies in the specialty imaging industry.

In other Durst news, the company unveiled two new platforms and software solutions at the 2018 SGIA Expo. Durst featured its new ERP system, LiftERP, which the company described as an ERP built by a printer for a printer. The company also highlighted its new professional services software, MAPS (Multi Application Platform & Solutions).

Xanté was honored with three “Red Hot Technologies” awards at PRINT18 for its En/Press Digital Multimedia Press, its X-32 Industrial Production UV Printer, and the latest version of its iQueue Workflow Software. The products were awarded in the categories of Digital Presses, Wide-Format Digital Printing, and Workflow Automation, respectively.

“Receiving three Red Hot Technologies awards is amazing,” said Robert Robert, president and CEO of Xanté. “The hard work and creativity of our designers is paying off.”

Barberán Jetmaster 1260

Bennett Packaging of Kansas City recently installed another Barberán Jetmaster, the second large-format single-pass direct-to-corrugated machine Bennett has purchased from Barberán in the past three years. This one, as opposed to the original 66-inch digital press, is 48 inches wide and better aligns with projects that would typically be printed on a 40-inch offset press.

“This digital press gives our customers another production option when they want high-graphic packaging and retail displays,” said Robert Sweet, sales manager at Bennett. The company, however, noted that it is not their goal to transition all projects to digital.

Pamarco has executed an agreement with Trelleborg for the distribution of their product line in the United States and Canada. Both companies will be promoting their plate mounting sleeves and bridges/adapters for all flexo print applications.

“The fir between Trelleborg, Pamarco, and Bingham Flexo Services is really perfect,” said Damien Letterrier, sales and application manager at Trelleborg. “The three companies have complementary products and strengths, and this arrangement creates exciting opportunities for us and the North American flexo industry as a whole.”

Brausse’s 1060ER die cutter, developed with support from BOBST, was recently installed at Colbert Packaging Corp. in Elkhart, Ind. This is the first instance in which a U.S.-based packaging supplier has implemented Brausse’s equipment that touts blanking technology.

Karina Mendes Cunha

MacDermid Graphic Solutions recently appointed Karina Mendes Cunha as sales manager for the company’s MGS-Brazil team based in São Paulo. In her role, she will be implementing and managing sales activities, generating growth of MacDermid’s LUX®ITP™ Platform, and further promoting the company’s portfolio of photopolymer plates and platemaking systems.

“Karina’s knowledge, skills, and experience will ensure further success of the MGS sales program in Brazil,” said Tom Caplinger, MacDermid’s senior business director, Americas.

“We are honored to receive these prestitigous awards from SGIA,” said Ken Hanulec, vice president of marketing for EFI Inkjet and co-general manager of EFI Inkjet Display Graphics. “This recognition underscores EFI’s unwavering commitment providing customers with superior-quality technology and our continued dedication to the markets we serve.”

Giant 170S

Young Shin USA Limited has announced the selection by Sutherland Packaging to install the Young Shin Giant 170S flatbed die cutter with EZ Feeder at the Sutherland headquarters in New Jersey. The die cutter offers precise center line technology with easy and fast setup using the Giant’s center block. The machine can accommodate E, B, A, and AB flute corrugated board from .05 inches to approximately .43 inches, and it can process up to 3,000 sheets per hour.
