MHIA Gears Up for 2025 With Customer-Centered Growth and Proven Solutions

Building on the success of EVOL, MHIA continues to meet the growing needs of boxmakers

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America (MHIA) Corrugating Machinery Division closed 2024 on a high note, celebrating the remarkable success of its EVOL Flexo Folder Gluer and preparing for even greater advancements in 2025. With more than 235 units sold in North America and over 670 installations worldwide, the EVOL continues to set the standard in the corrugated packaging industry.

“We are honored to work closely with our customers and are dedicated to ensuring they have a positive experience that delivers the results they need. Our focus is on providing solutions that are efficient, reliable, and scalable,” said Hiroyuki Kikumoto, President of MHIA Corrugating Machinery Division.

The success of EVOL is not only reflected in its sales but also in glowing customer feedback. “Choosing EVOL was the easiest decision I’ve made in all my years in the converting business,” said the General Manager of Rand Whitney.

A Closer Look at EVOL: What Sets It Apart?

The EVOL Flexo Folder Gluer stands out for its speed, reliability, and precision. Available in several models such as the 84/400 and 100/400 DSL, the EVOL caters to diverse production needs. It can produce up to 24,000 boxes per hour—or 48,000 with the Dual Slotter—while offering two-minute job setups, ensuring minimal downtime in fast-paced environments.

MHI’s patented Lead Edge Feeder, combined with precise folding systems, ensures consistent, high-quality output. Other key features such as the Ink Circulation Recovery System reduce waste and enhance operational efficiency, making the EVOL both productive and environmentally friendly.

Expanding the EVOL Ecosystem and Equipment Offerings

Building on the success of the EVOL, MHIA continues to innovate with its EVOL Digital Services. The expanded EVOL AR Library provides augmented reality-enhanced procedures for operators, with future updates adding tailored instructions for the EVOL 115. Integrated with Maintenance Agreement Visits (MAVs), customers benefit from seamless access to both the EVOL AR and CBT programs.

MHIA continues to support box plants with its expanded equipment offerings, including the MC-100 Flexo Folder Gluer and MPF. The MC-100, capable of 300 boxes per minute with double-feed capabilities for 500, delivers precise alignment and minimizes downtime through innovative operator-friendly features. The MPF ensures uninterrupted feeding of corrugated sheets at speeds of 400 boxes per minute, addressing common causes of downtime.

“The MC-100 and MPF are a testament of our ongoing commitment to delivering innovative and high-
quality solutions,” said Christine Little, Director of Sales for MHIA. “As we move forward, MHIA will continue to focus on delivering advanced, high-
performance corrugated machinery backed by a dedicated and experienced team of engineers and technicians.”

Unparalleled Service  and Support for 2025

To ensure customers maximize the value of their equipment, MHIA offers the Production Improvement Program (PIP). Over a four-month period, MHI consultants provide training, analysis, and hands-on support to restore machines to OEM specifications and sustain long-term efficiency.

“Our Gold Star Service Team
continues to evolve alongside our customers’ needs, providing proactive, reliable assistance—whether in-house or online,” said Little. “With our newly expanded Las Vegas office and continuous enhancement of our digital services, we’re committed to offering industry-leading support throughout every stage of our customers’ journeys.”

Looking Ahead

As MHIA prepares for 2025, it remains focused on delivering solutions that empower box plants to meet future industry demands. With the success of the EVOL as a foundation, MHIA plans to expand its product portfolio and enhance its service programs to keep leading the corrugated industry.

“We look forward to building on our successes from this year as we head into 2025,” Kikumoto said. “Our aim is to continue to give box plants the tools and support they need to thrive—now and well into the years to come.”
