The Corrugating Machinery Division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America continues to expand the capabilities of the EVOL AR Program. The industry-first Remote Assistance Augmented Reality Program now includes Work Instructions.

Since its launch in 2019, many EVOL customers have already utilized EVOL AR to troubleshoot machine without requiring a costly emergency service visit. EVOL AR enables plant managers, technicians, and engineers to easily share in real time from their facilities with MHIA experts who can collaborate with them to solve those quickly and efficiently.

With Work Instructions, users now have access to a comprehensive library of intuitive reference manuals and training materials using 3D models of the EVOL. This AR content currently includes all basic machine calibrations and is continually being expanded to include wear parts replacement, lubrication, operations, and more advanced machine tasks.

The expansion of EVOL AR is in direct response to ongoing customer feedback and collaboration used to enhance the program’s efficacy and value. Prior to the expansion of EVOL AR to include Work Instructions, MHIA built a few AR scenarios for several common Feed Unit calibrations. Because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback to these scenarios, MHIA has rapidly begun expanding the library of AR content.

Novice mechanics, electricians, and more junior technicians will be able to perform complex maintenance tasks more effectively by utilizing this new online procedural content library. Work Instructions is the culmination of a concerted effort by MHIA to provide customers with a valuable collection of easy to access AR content designed to replace printed or PEF-based operation and maintenance manuals.

“Our customers across North America count on our machinery, technology, and services to stay productive and profitable,” said Darrold Phillips, Senior Vice President, Service and Operations North America. “EVOL AR has proved to be an incredibly powerful tool, one that we will continue to build and expand to meet our customers’ growth and operational needs.”

EVOL AR was developed in conjunction with ScopeAR, a global leader in developing augmented reality solutions and products for industrial clients focused around field maintenance, manufacturing, and training.
